They gave a party because it was Kelly’s birthday, another ‘bad taste party’, complete with a karaoke. Everybody had done their very best to look awful, but poor Kelly herself was very unwell that night. We slept at the neighbours house, another gorgeous cottage, with a view of Slains Castle, the inspiration for Dracula by Bram Stoker, who has stayed in the village.
With Claire, Paula, Kevin,Lillie, Johanna ((who respectively do their masters in graphic design and

photography) and Johanna’s boyfriend, we went to the ‘Beltane
fire festival’, a Pegan festival that celebrates the arrival of spring. Mina was one of the participating people; she was an air-element, but we did not spot her among the others. It was an impressive spectacle, but very cold at the top of the Carlton Hill where it was held.
