All of us master students in Illustration had a talk with our external examiner, Christopher Sharrock, a very interesting man who looks like he too dresses up like comic characters. He could be one of the characters out of Tintin. Meanwhile I did my first professional photo shoot with the school photographer, John McGregor, of me dressed up as the Dutch comic character, Kapitein Rob. That Saturday there was a conference on Children's Book Illustrations, were Fiona and I went. It was interesting but we both realised that the world of picture books is not for us, as it is too restricted. Only for children under the age of six and they have to be simple and happy, and there is not a lot of money in it either. Well that is what we got from it anyway. Next month Fiona and I will be in Amsterdam for two weeks but not at the same time.
